Network & Security: Clearing NSX BGP Precheck Alarms with Orchestrator

The Cloud Architect

The Cloud Architect
NSX prechecks can block upgrades and changes if alarms remain open. One example is a BGP alarm shown as open even when no active BGP issue exists.

Orchestrator action: NSX Tier-0 BGP alarm remediation
Goal: standardize the safe remediation procedure into a workflow rather than manual UI clicks.
Workflow steps (VMware Aria Orchestrator)
- Create a workflow: 'NSX - Clear BGP Precheck Alarm (T0 Toggle)'
- Inputs: nsxManager (string), tier0Id (string)
- Step 1: Read current Tier-0 BGP config and store the current Inter-SR iBGP setting.
- Step 2: Toggle Inter-SR iBGP OFF, save, wait for config apply.
- Step 3: Toggle Inter-SR iBGP ON, save, wait for config apply.
- Step 4: Re-run NSX precheck alarm query; fail if alarm persists.
Expected outcome
BGP precheck alarms are handled consistently and quickly, with audit-friendly workflow history.
